Freedom 2B … Azaadiii …. Dil kii …. :-D

Filed under: Misc — Teal @ 3:01 am

So the day finally dawns ….
Trinity Teal has victoriously finished up her project work, and [god willing] will come out with flying colors! Being a final year student in a so-so college, i decided to do my project in a really big company, just to get the feel of how things are going to be in the future. [Since I am gonna end up writing code anyways, whether I like it or not .. Phbbt!!]
Owing to nature’s fury, our previous semester’s exams were postponed, which left us with a whole month less to :

  • hunt for a project.
  • see if it’s feasible.
  • getting it approved from the extremely ‘knowledgable’ faculty.

Me and my classmate had decided to do a company project. So when we wrote the test and got through, we were elated! But the story doesnot end there. ‘Flavasoft’, as I’d like to call it…. has numerous branches in our city. And we were made to take grand tours around the city from one branch to another, to see if any one office atleast had openings for project trainees … After roaming about throughout our study hols, we finally got a go-ahead from one division. We went there after our exams got over. But somethings are not meant to be! After going there, they tell us that there is no team that needs two project trainees, but two seperate teams with solo trainee requirements. So they split me and my classmate .. we were both stranded with solo projects!

Tensions were high … spirits were low .. amidst all of this I was coping with the fact that college life is over [nah, me not senti and stuff]!!!! But these 3-4 months have thought me so much more than college has thought me in 4 years. I was put under this sweetheart of a person. My PL was seriously godsent. He treated me like a peer, like a fellow employee. Initially calling everyone by first name was majorly awkward , but hey that’s how things are! In real time office work, you even have to call 60+ oldies on a first name basis! So anyways …. this is just a sample of my days at flavasoft … more to come in the days ahead …. stay tuned.

But now let me shout out loud to the whole universe :

I AM FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE – FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE – FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!

Of Menageries and viva-voce

Filed under: Humour — Teal @ 5:52 am

This is nothing new to the regulars at my blog. I have this practice of putting posts on the eve of eggjams … yaas yaas , and this time it’s summer. So it’s way worse… and the worst fact is that I am totally indifferent to the fact that tomorrow is my university viva-voce for my major project. [ya, so? :-D]

Yesterday I had to go shopping for a few things sis had asked for. So me and Dad went out and go the required stuff … but on the way back … OMG! It’s almost election time in my state and heavy duty campaigning is going on… and what makes this experience all the more precious is the simple fact that my house is strategically located right in the middle of two areas which are hubs of activity of rival political parties ….
it took us thrice the usual time to come back home!

On coming home, my very adorable and cute cousins are creating a crass cacophony ….

“Akka … computer la enna panarell?”
“Akka … na indha CD potu paakatumaa?”
“Akka akka enakku Narnia paakanumm!!!” ….”Mummii”…..”Anna enna killitaaan”….”ava thaan aramuchaa!!!” … “Po Daaa” ….”Po Diiii”…

Aaargh …. aargh …. heavy duty weeping, dress tugging, hair-pulling … amidst which I was left to disperse the fights whilst my parents and relatives conveniently seated themselves in the master bedroom , reminiscing all the good times from the days of yore!

And to top it off I had guests last evening. Being the only kid at home, since sis not in station, my people will be like – “this is my daughter ..” and I have to flash a goody-goody girl smile. And the big question pops out – “enna nyabagam irukka?” [Remember me]….” .

Now this is the part where I grin sheepishly and say – “No uncle, actually I don’t.”

To which the uncle retorts with merry laughter and says – “Back in 198+ .. I used to come home very frequently… you were just a little girl with two plaits then!”

As if all other kids wore Dolce and Gabbana! And got their hair styled from Lakme Salons!

This is were Dad interjects and says – “No no, I think you have her confused with my first daughter…”

The merry laughter returns … [And this is the part where I slip in silently back to my room]

Egad! The junior menagerie is my room playing carom!

JM – “Akka, enga kooda carom aada varella?” [yo sis comin to play carom with us?]

ME – “Illa maa, neenga elarum velayadungo.” [nopes, you carry on]

I sit to start my computer and inadvertently, the noise starts all over again.

JM – “Dei en da cheating pannara” .. “Na onnum cheating pannala “….”Poi sollada …” …”Appa!!!” …. [don’t cheat .. I didn’t cheat!! … don’t lie … Dad!!!]

I must have been a docile angel in my childhood … wish these kids came with remote controls. If there was a Nobel Prize for patience, then I should get it! No contest. I take out my embroidery thread and needle and start stitching a special surprise for my sis. [Shhh .. don’t tell her 😉 ] – try it, I seriously recommend embroidery to de-stress … it works!

So at the end of the day I have achieved the following:

  1. Silenced the JM.
  2. Gone partially deaf.
  3. Squandered a whole day.
  4. Done zilch for viva.

Hmm…. The JM have left but the senior menagerie of specimens still linger around my residence .. making rounds, blaring out and bickering full blasht as I type this….

Food for thought

“No man from outside can make you free… No one holds the Key to the Kingdom of Happiness. No one has the authority to hold that key. That key is your own self, and in the development and the purification and in the incorruptibility of that self alone is the Kingdom of Eternity…”.

These words were spoken by Jiddu Krishnamurthy. [ 1895 – 1986 -]

Teal’s College chronicles

Filed under: Sobriety — Teal @ 4:57 pm

Allrighty, college life is almost over, should I say 99.99% over. We are only left with 3 major days – project viva-voce and 2 theory papers. Contrary to normal beliefs I am not all misty-eyed and sentimental at this point, which is shocking! This is the first part of a multi-part post series where I shall be bragging about my college life and the people that have moved me and touched my heart in numerous ways.

1st up, who do I write about now?

Okies.

I have made up my mind.

This will be an ode to my immediate seniors.

They were undeniably the biggest movers and shakers in my college! A mixture of energy, enthusiasm and brains. They showed the finger at anyone who stood in their way. They stood united at all times. What a batch! And I was fortunate enough to befriend so many kool dudettes who are awesome players and great human beings. Sudha, Sangeetha – it was an honor being your team mate. You guys have thought me so much. Your awesome and energetic game will never be forgotten.

Sudha, your mix of hard-work acing at both academics as well as sports always amazed me, how did you ever do it? U rule!

Sangeetha, my ever sweet captain. How will I ever forget all your jokes during practice? And how cool headed were you. God!

Uma, you are one of the sweetest people I know. Despite playing for Indian Railways, you were always level headed and had your feet planted on terra-firma. Remember all the times we claimed OD for sports practice and had a blast!

I will never forget the Thiruvanamalai trip that we took, what awesome fun it was! We totally rocked the inter-zonal , didn’t we? And not to mention TIES, the weather at Hosur totally rocked!!!

I really missed getting to know you guys a little better. I’d always secretly wished I was born a few months earlier, coz that way I would’ve been a part of your batch.

TF, my god, you rock man! Your enthusiasm during symposium and culturals was mind-blowing.

Calvin and Hobbes, you guys were the best in the college orchestra, really.

I took the red pill

Filed under: Sobriety — Teal @ 6:18 pm

Now me and my peers have reached the all-important crossroad of life. A few months down the line I am going to be pushed out into the real world, having to fend for myself. It is a dog-eat-dog world out there. All these years our parents protect us, shelter us from the evils of the world. Do you know why god gives family? Because family are the only people who will stick by you throughout your toughest times.
People say crap like – “You cant choose your family, but you can choose your friends .. bla ..bla”
At this point, everyone might be reminiscent of the wonderful days spent in the coursework of undergrad. Some maybe armed with what is required, so they can boldly step outward into the real world. Most people are totally unprepared and god only knows what happens to the latter.
Some people can be so crude and cold and selfish, and people would think they were the thickest and closest of friends. At the end of the day, no one cares where the f**k you land up, as long as you learn to fend for yourself.
You must always be vigil, because even if you are a dutiful friend, if you have helped out someone in a huge way, and all they can do is just laugh on your face when you go to them, now that is true ‘f.r.i.e.n.d.s.h.i.p’.
If there are people belonging to the afore mentioned category reading this post, let me assure you, you will all surely go to hell!
