Listen without prejudice

Nopes, I am not here to talk about George Micheal’s album of the same name [Which was a gud album, nonetheless :-D]. Often I have wondered about the varied different styles and genres of music. Some , I fell in love with at the first sound, and others took a while to sink into my system and made it like a gradual liking.

I tried so hard to get back to listening and following Tamil film music and hindi film music as well. But the grotesque shelved out in the name of music is ,, aaaah …. the horror ….. :-O ..

G.V Prakash is someone who’s music is worth listening to. As far as Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music goes, it is awesome , as long as he doesnt sing tracks 😐

And what on earth has happened to A.R Rehman? The mastermind behind work like Roja, Bombay, Duet, Alaipayuthey has severely stooped in standards 😦 I remember the shock that engulfed me when I heard “Oru Koodai Sunlight” . it cant be rehman!!!! I thot :-O

Due to many limitations, I take my pathetic radiomoto to work and have to switch stations to keep myself sane. Radio One caught on the hacksaw trend a little too late. Radio Mirchi’s ingenious discoveries of Mokka Mohan and Matter Manickam have been plagiarised to the CORE. Radio One has one too many such segments, it irks me to the limit!

  • Rock n Roll Anachi
  • Harry Potter-um Kollywood Staargalum
  • Doctorrrrr
  • The Police Story

If the above 4 are funny, then I am Marilyn Monroe 😐

Listening to radio has become annoying. Big 92.7 fm truncates the first and last minute of every song they air. And give very generous prizes like 10% discount coupons, 2% discount coupons etc. I have stopped listening to AIR ,because the signal of the oldest station in Chennai has become the weakest too.

What is up with that YogiB guy .. he is picking some of IRs numbers and making a blasphemous chimera of sort. This is with reference to both Madai thiranthu as well as Engayum [which happens to be an MSV composition]**  epothum… Sheesh .. Sometimes I feel indi rockers and rappers are mostly just pathetic wannabes. I heard some guy cpla years ago [apparently lead singer of a wannabe rock band] faking the american accent while doing a cover of “Struggle within”! Imagine that ! X-(

On a totally different note, you guys must try listening to Avial. These guys make malayalam rock. I happened to have seen their only video to be aired, which was “Nada nada”, in my final year of college. Then I chanced upon thier MySpace page. … do lend a ear to “Adu Pambeh” … I am addicted to it. I particularly love the bass guitar’s strong presence in the track as well the use of the banjo.

I am looking for a track called “Trapped” by Indus Creed. Do any of you guys have it? If so do mail me the song at teal@cooltaurus.com

**Thanks Ram 😉

  1. Radio in Madras was always annoying to the core. Besides, they never played the kind of music I listen to. Internet radio is what I relied on for an hour of good music.
